NORTHWEST FLORIDA, Fla. – Un visitante de Indiana que dijo que iba a nadar hasta la playa desde Crab Island cerca de Destin fue encontrado flotando en el agua por unos navegantes.

La oficina del alguacil del condado de Okaloosa informó el 14 de septiembre que el hombre de 46 años y otros alquilaron un bote pontón a las 9 a.m. y anclaron en Crab Island unos veinte minutos después. Dijeron que alrededor de las 9:40 a.m., el hombre les dijo que iba a nadar a la playa para recolectar conchas. Cuando no regresó, comenzaron a buscar y luego se comunicaron con la Oficina del Sheriff del condado de Okaloosa para reportar su desaparición.

Poco tiempo después, los navegantes encontraron al individuo fallecido en el agua al sur del Puente Marler de Destin.

La oficina del alguacil también informó que un grupo de nadadores quedarón atrapados en una corriente de resaca en el Parque Estatal Henderson Beach en Destin alrededor de las 6:15 p.m. el 5 de septiembre.

Un hombre de 58 años de Oakdale Louisiana no pudo regresar a salvo a la orilla.

Después de ser sacado del agua. Fue transportado por EMS a la sala de emergencias de Destin, donde fue declarado fallecido.

A principios de este mes, la oficina del alguacil informó que el cuerpo de un adolescente desaparecido la cual desapareció en las turbulentas aguas del Golfo de México cerca de Destin fue descubierto por un bañista en Miramar Beach en el condado de Walton. El cuerpo del residente de Luisiana de 14 años fue recuperado aproximadamente a 1.5 millas de donde desapareció en el área costera de 3500 Scenic Highway 98 en el este de Destin.

Destin beachNORTHWEST FLORIDA, Fla. – A visitor from Indiana who said he was going to swim to the beach from Crab Island near Destin was later found floating in the water by boaters.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s office reported on September 14 that the 46-year old man and others rented a pontoon boat at 9 a.m. and anchored at Crab Island about twenty minutes later. They said around 9:40 a.m., the man told them he was going to swim to the beach to collect shells. When he didn’t return, they began searching and then contacted the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office to report him missing.

A short time later boaters found the individual deceased in the water south of Destin’s Marler Bridge.

The sheriff’s office also reported that a group of swimmers became caught in a rip current off Henderson Beach State Park in Destin around 6:15 p.m. on September 5.

A 58-year old man from Oakdale Louisiana was not able to make it safely back to shore.

After being pulled from the water. He was transported by EMS to the Destin Emergency Room where he was pronounced deceased.

Earlier this month, the sheriff’s office reported the body of a missing teen who disappeared in the rough waters of the Gulf of Mexico near Destin was spotted by a beachgoer in Miramar Beach in Walton County. The body of the 14-year old Louisiana resident was recovered approximately 1.5 miles from where he went missing off the shore area of 3500 Scenic Highway 98 in east Destin.
