El Servicio Postal de los Estados Unidos anunció el programa de sellos postales para el 2022 que presenta una colección de temas que celebran la cultura estadounidense, incluidos los mariachis.

“Las nuevas estampillas 2022 son obras de arte en miniatura, diseñadas para ser educativas y atractivas para coleccionistas y amigos por correspondencia de todo el mundo,” dijo William Gicker, director de Servicios de Estampillas de USPS. “Los colores vivos y los diseños únicos de las selecciones de este año agregarán un toque especial de belleza a sus sobres.”

Cada una de las cinco estampillas vibrantes presenta a un músico vestido con un traje de charro, el atuendo tradicional de los mariachis, tocando uno de los cinco instrumentos icónicos del mariachi: guitarra, guitarrón, vihuela, violín y trompeta. El USPS dijo que las estampillas temáticas de mariachi representan “un elemento integral de la cultura mexicoamericana que se ha arraigado profundamente en los Estados Unidos y tiene fanáticos en todo el mundo.”

El diseño y el arte del sello fueron creados por Rafael López y Derry Noyes fue el director de arte.

Otros diseños de sellos lanzados en esta colección incluyen la Margarita Africana, banderas estadounidenses pintadas en graneros, Floral Geometry, Monument Valley, Palace of Fine Arts y Shel Silverstein.

USPS to Mariachi stamp

The United States Postal Service announced the 2022 stamp program featuring a collection of themes that celebrate American culture including Mariachis.

“The new 2022 stamps are miniature works of art, designed to be educational and appeal to collectors and pen pals around the world,” said USPS Stamp Services Director William Gicker. “The vivid colors and unique designs of this year’s selections will add a special touch of beauty on your envelopes.”

Each of the five vibrant stamps features a musician dressed in a traje de charro, the traditional outfit of mariachi performers, playing one of five iconic mariachi instruments: guitar, guitarrón, vihuela, violin and trumpet. The USPS said the mariachi themed stamps represent “an integral element of Mexican American culture that has become deeply rooted in the United States and has fans around the world.”

The stamp design and art were created by Rafael López and Derry Noyes was the art director.

Other stamp designs released in this collection include The African Daisy, American flags painted on barns, Floral Geometry, Monument Valley, Palace of Fine Arts and Shel Silverstein.
