Sospechoso muerto en tiroteo involucrando a un oficial
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Un delincuente buscado por la policía fue asesinado en un tiroteo con un oficial en la tarde del 30 de noviembre en Pensacola en la intersección de la 9th Ave y Langley frente al restaurante Joe’s Caribe.
Según el alguacil del condado de Escambia, David Morgan, un agente de fianzas solicitó ayuda a la oficina del alguacil del condado de Escambia para arrestar a un hombre que era buscado por varias órdenes de arresto locales. Los agentes comenzaron a perseguir al sospechoso en el área de 9th Avenue y Bayou Boulevard, cerca de Target.
“El sospechoso salió del vehículo con un arma de fuego en la mano, corrió hacia el área de la pequeña empresa con nuestros oficiales en persecución,” dijo el alguacil del condado de Escambia, David Morgan, en el lugar de la escena. “Se volteo hacia los oficiales con un arma en la mano. Fue entonces cuando se intercambiaron disparos y el individuo falleció.”
El sospechoso recibió un disparo en el estacionamiento del centro comercial. No hubo heridos a los oficiales ni al público en general en la persecución o en el tiroteo, sin embargo, se informó que hubieron algunos daños a un negocio y a una casa cercana.
Channel 3 informa que el hombre asesinado a tiros ha sido identificado por familiares y amigos como Mickee McArthur, de 28 años. Lo describen como un hermano, amigo y padre bondadoso que deja un hijo pequeño.
El Chief Deputy de ECSO, Chip Simmons, dijo que McArthur tenía una “serie de órdenes de arresto por delitos graves que incluían robo, secuestro, encarcelamiento falso y asalto.”
Simmons dijo que tres oficiales dispararon sus armas. El Departamento de Policía de Pensacola y la Patrulla de Caminos de Florida ayudaron en la persecución.
El incidente está siendo investigado por el Departamento de Aplicación de la Ley de Florida.
Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting
PENSACOLA, Fla. – A wanted felon was killed in an officer-involved shooting in the afternoon of Nov. 30 in Pensacola at the intersection of Ninth and Langley avenues in front of Joe’s Caribe restaurant.
According to Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan, a bail bondsman requested assistance from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office to arrest a man who was wanted on several local felony warrants. Deputies began to pursue the suspect in the area of 9th Avenue and Bayou Boulevard, near Target.
“The suspect exited the vehicle with a firearm in his hand, ran toward the small business area over there with our officers in foot pursuit,” Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan said at the scene. “He turned with a weapon in his hands toward the officers. That’s when gunfire was exchanged, and the individual is deceased.”
The suspect was shot in the shopping center parking lot. There were no injuries to officers or the general public in the pursuit or in the shooting, however some damaged to a business and a nearby home were reported.
Channel 3 reports the man shot and killed has been identified by family and friends as 28-year old Mickee McArthur. They describe him as a kind-hearted brother, friend and father who leaves behind a young son.
ECSO Chief Deputy Chip Simmons said McArthur had a “slew of felony warrants to include robbery, kidnapping, false imprisonment and assault.”
Simmons said three deputies fired their weapons. The Pensacola Police Department and the Florida Highway Patrol assisted in the pursuit.
The incident is under investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
