Equipo de Bobsleigh Puertorriqueño basado en Pensacola busca apoyo
PENSACOLA, Fla. – El equipo de bobsleigh puertorriqueño hizo su debut en el Festival Latino este año. El capitán del equipo, Ed Camacho, fue presentado a la multitud de asistentes al festival para invitar a las personas a participar en un sorteo.

El equipo necesita recaudar dinero para gastos de viaje, alojamiento, equipo y carrera.
Esperamos competir este próximo 3 al 14 de diciembre en el Park City, UT y luego del 2 al 13 de enero en el Campeonato de la Copa de América del Norte en Lake Placid, NY,” dijo Camacho. ” Esperamos recaudar suficiente dinero para competir en Europa también en febrero.”
El equipo tendría que viajar a Lake Placid, NY para entrenarse en marzo.
El equipo se encuentra actualmente en Pensacola, pero Camacho dice que pueden necesitar mudarse a una ciudad más grande si no pueden generar suficiente apoyo desde aquí.
Camacho quiere que los latinos sepan que representan a todos los latinos, no solo a los puertorriqueños. Él dice que el equipo es consciente de que el bobsleigh no es un deporte tan popular como el béisbol o el fútbol, pero con más apoyo, el deporte también se volverá más popular.
“Los Juegos Olímpicos de Invierno en Beijing, China 2022 es nuestro objetivo,” dijo Camacho. “Nos encantaría llegar allí, pero no podemos hacerlo sin apoyo, donaciones y patrocinadores.”

Puerto Rican Bobsled Team based in Pensacola seeks support
The Puerto Rican Bobsled Team made it’s debut at the Latino Festival this year. Team captain, Ed Camacho was introduced to the crowd of festival-goers to invite people to participate in a raffle.

The team needs to raise money for travel, lodging, equipment and race fees.
We hope to compete this coming December 3rd thru the 14th in Park City, UT and then January 2nd thru the 13 in the Championship for the North American Cup in Lake Placid, NY,” Camacho said. “We hope to raise enough money to compete in Europe also in February.
The team would then be required to travel to Lake Placid, NY for training in March.
The team is currently based in Pensacola, but Camacho says they may need to move to a larger city if they can’t generate enough support from here.
Camacho wants Latinos to know they represent all Latinos, not only Puerto Ricans. He says the team is aware that bobsledding isn’t as popular a sport as baseball or soccer, but with more support, the sport will also become more popular.
“The Winter Olympic Games in Beijing, China 2022 is our goal,” Camacho said. “We would love to get there but we can’t without support, donations and sponsors.”
