PENSACOLA, Fla.

PENSACOLA, Fla. – Thousands of people poured in to the 2019 Latino Festival in Pensacola on Sunday, November 17. The festivities were held at Museum Plaza this year with a constant flow of stream of food, fun and entertainment seekers.

Starting at noon, the air was filled with enticing smell of food cooking including arepas, ceviche, pernil, pupusas y tacos. Fruit, candy, drinks and snow cones were also popular.

At the stage, music and dance lovers were treated to a non-stop lineup of entertainment. Jonnathan Garrido (Colombia), Alexa Yanez (Mexico), Nobius Band (Puerto Rico), Al Alvarado (Cuba), Jay el Revelde (Puerto Rico) & Karina (Costa Rica), Proyecto Musical (Mexico), Amid (Mexico) featuring Mariano (Mexico) y su Orquesta and AK-7 (Mexico) provided a diverse mix of Latino music genres that satisfied every taste.

If dancing wasn’t spontaneous, it was also part of the show. Traditional dances from Mexico, Panama and Peru filled natives of these countries pride. Performed by the Mexican Folkloric group of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Robertsdale, Raíces Panamenias and Maria Lino and friends respectively, the crowd applauded with cheer. DJ Roel, DJ Snoopy and DJ Pablo kept the music and activities moving throughout the day.

Zumba instructor, Vanessa Mills (Peru), led Micah Trinidad and her students from Paxton High School from Paxton, Fla. A $50 cash prize was awarded to the best punta dancer at the festival.

An impressive new addition to the Latino Festival stage was freestyle dancer, Kristian Colón (Puerto Rico). Colón wowed the audience from a platform above the crowd.

The day began with a blessing from the Mayan group Awex.

The robot, Warrior if a Thousand Battles, made his entrance at the end of the night.

The 2019 Latino Festival in Pensacola was by many accounts—too many to quote—the best yet. The Latino Festival started in 2005 as “Expo Latino” and has certainly become an anticipated annual event. It is organized by Grace Resendez McCaffery, owner of La Costa Latina Newspaper.
