La comunidad de Pensacola celebra su 462° cumpleaños con el lanzamiento del primer sendero de asentamiento de Estados Unidos
PENSACOLA, FLA. – La ciudad de Pensacola inauguró el Camino del Primer Asentamiento de Estados Unidos (America’s First Settlement Trail) el 14 de agosto. Apodado el “Sendero A1S,” el propósito del sendero peatonal de tres millas es celebrar y educar a las personas sobre la rica historia del lugar. Gratis y de acceso público para los visitantes y la comunidad de Pensacola, el sendero A1S describe la historia de la nación a través de una serie de paradas en el centro de Pensacola y el distrito histórico de Pensacola.
“Después de 13 meses de planificación, estamos encantados de lanzar oficialmente A1S Trail en Pensacola,” dijo Michael Carro, fundador de A1S Foundation. “Este proyecto ha sido una labor de amor entre nuestros socios en el Fideicomiso Histórico de la Universidad de West Florida, la Ciudad de Pensacola y Visit Pensacola y el objetivo de A1S Trail es brindarles a nuestros visitantes a Pensacola y nuestra comunidad local una mirada más profunda a la rica historia de nuestro destino. Establecido en el 1559 en una expedición española dirigida por Tristán de Luna y Arellano, Pensacola, Fla. fue el primer asentamiento de los Estados Unidos, anterior al asentamiento español en St. Augustine, Fla. por seis años y al asentamiento inglés en Jamestown, Virginia por 48 años, lo que lo convierte en el primer asentamiento colonial europeo de varios años identificado arqueológicamente en los EE. UU.
El sendero A1S es un sendero histórico autoguiado de tres millas marcado por el centro de Pensacola y el distrito histórico de Pensacola por una línea roja en el suelo. A lo largo del sendero hay veinte paradas y más de setenta puntos de interés como Monumentos Históricos Nacionales, Dorr House, Christ Church y Fort Gorge. Pensacola Community Celebrates 462nd Birthday with launch of America’s first settlement trail
PENSACOLA, FLA. – The City of Pensacola launched the America’s First Settlement Trail on August 14. Nicknamed the “A1S Trail,” the purpose of the three-mile pedestrian trail is to celebrate and educate individuals on the rich history of the destination. Free and publicly accessible to destination visitors and the Pensacola community, the A1S Trail outlines the nation’s history through a series of stops throughout downtown Pensacola and the Pensacola Historic District.
“After 13 months of planning, we are thrilled to officially launch the A1S Trail in Pensacola,” said Michael Carro, Founder, A1S Foundation. “This project has been a labor of love between our partners at the University of West Florida Historic Trust, the City of Pensacola and Visit Pensacola, and the goal of the A1S Trail is provide our visitors to Pensacola and our local community a deeper look at our destination’s rich history. We look forward to expanding the A1S Trail further in the future with connecting trails that will provide a more immersive look into America’s First Settlement.”

The A1S Trail is a three-mile self-guided historic walking trail marked through Downtown Pensacola and the Pensacola Historic District by a red line on the ground. Along the trail are twenty stops and over seventy points of interest like National Historic Landmarks, the Dorr House, Christ Church and Fort Gorge. Along the Trail, visitors can experience sites from as early as 1756 when the Spanish built Fort San Miguel in what is now downtown Pensacola. These locations are marked by medallions and QR codes that will take you to online information about the points of interest around that location.
