El OCSO busca testigos del tiroteo en Bric A Brac
DESTIN, Fla. – El Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office dice que los investigadores están pidiendo a cualquier testigo de un tiroteo matutino en Bric A Brac en el Highway 98 en Destin para compartir información.
Dicen que dos personas fueron baleadas en el establecimiento aproximadamente a las 4:15 a.m. después de que estalló una pelea cerca de la hora de cierre el 10 de marzo.
Trevor Thomas de Crestview, de 29 años, fue atendido en el Fort Walton Beach Medical Center por heridas de bala en la pierna izquierda y el abdomen. Raheem Phillips, de 24 años, de Defuniak Springs también sufrió una herida de bala.
El informe del alguacil dice que un supervisor de la OCSO que llegó al tiroteo en curso escuchó disparos y vio al sospechoso Christian Pickett en un estacionamiento con una pistola en la mano. Pickett rechazó sus órdenes de soltar el arma y se volvió hacia él. En ese momento el oficial disparó rondas. Un guardia de seguridad detrás del agente dijo que temía el movimiento de Pickett y también disparó en la dirección de Pickett. Pickett huyó por la Highway 98 y fue detenido tras una persecución a pie. Un arma que resultó haber sido reportada como robada al Crestview Police Department fue encontrada más tarde en el pasto por el camino que había recorrido.
Pickett fue puesto bajo custodia inicialmente por los cargos de ser un fugitivo del condado de Covington, Alabama, en una violación del cargo de libertad condicional por posesión de un arma de fuego con una identificación alterada. Actualmente, Pickett también enfrenta cargos adicionales de exhibición inadecuada de un arma de fuego y resistencia a un oficial sin violencia mientras continúa la investigación.
El informe de la OCSO también dice que el oficial que disparó su arma fue puesto en licencia administrativa con paga mientras la investigación está en curso según el protocolo estándar.

They say two people were shot at the establishment approximately 4:15 a.m. after a fight erupted outside around closing time on March 10.
29-year old Trevor Thomas of Crestview was treated at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center for gunshot wounds to the left leg and abdomen. 24-year old Raheem Phillips of Defuniak Springs also suffered a gunshot wound.
The sheriff’s report says an OCSO supervisor who arrived at the in-progress shooting heard gunfire and spotted suspect Christian Pickett in a parking lot with a gun in his hand. Pickett refused his commands to drop the gun and turned towards him. At that point the deputy fired rounds. A security guard behind the deputy said he was in fear of Pickett’s movement and also fired in Pickett’s direction. Pickett fled across Highway 98 and was apprehended following a foot chase. A gun that turned out to have been reported stolen to the was later found in the grass along the path he had traveled.
Pickett was taken into custody initially on charges of being a fugitive from Covington County, Alabama on a violation of probation charge for possession of a firearm with an altered ID. Pickett currently also faces additional charges of improper exhibition of a firearm and resisting an officer without violence as the investigation continues.
The OCSO report also says the deputy who fired his weapon has been placed on administrative leave with pay while the investigation is underway per standard protocol.
