Recordando a Dalena
La Costa del Golfo está de luto por la pérdida inesperada de una amiga y talentosa artista. Querida por muchos, Dalena era conocida por su espíritu, no solo en su música sino también en su personalidad. Tenía muchos amigos en el noroeste de Florida y participó en muchas celebraciones cantando en bodas y otros eventos.
Las palabras no logran describir la inmensa tristeza y conmoción de perder a Dalena. Nuestro más sentido pésame a su familia y a todos los que la conocieron. Su familia ha proporcionado el siguiente obituario.
Piedad Magdalena “Dalena” Candell-Kay, de 56 años de edad, residente en Mary Esther, FL., falleció pacíficamente el 25 de Septiembre de 2021, rodeada del amor de su esposo, hijo, nuera, su pastora y amigas.
Dalena nació en Guayaquil, Ecuador, el 6 de Abril del 1965, hija de Jorge Candell y Rosa Fernandez. Cuando tenía 25 años, se mudó a Los Ángeles, California, donde nació su único hijo, Jonathan Castro. Fue una madre devota que se enorgullecía de criar y proveer para su hijo.
Dalena se casó con Roger Kay el 23 de Septiembre del 2003. Estuvieron casados durante 18 años y construyeron una vida juntos en Mary Esther, Florida.
Dalena fue bendecida con una voz increíble, por lo que trabajó como cantante profesional durante toda su vida. A ella le encantaba la aventura y los viajes y disfrutó a cabalidad los mismos. Dalena era una dedicada sierva a Dios, que daba su amor incondicional a todo el que lo necesitara. Amaba asistir a la iglesia, leer la Biblia, aprender y tocar música con otros musicos. Participó activamente en su iglesia, donde celebraremos su vida y donde sirvió como pilar, mentora y modelo a seguir para muchos. Ella cumplió su propósito en este mundo de tocar las vidas que Dios puso en su camino, con su carismática presencia, amor, humor y devoción a su Creador.
A Dalena le sobreviven su esposo, Roger Kay, su hijo, Dr. Jonathan Castro y su esposa, Dra. Jodi Gilles, sus hermanos Elena, Cecilia, Mónica, Rosa, Luis Eduardo, Carlos y otros familiares y amigos.
En su honor, se llevará a cabo un servicio religioso, celebrando su vida, el cual tendrá lugar en la Iglesia Cristiana, Comunidad Familiar Tabernáculo de Adoración ubicada en 403 Green Acres Rd, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547, el Domingo 17 de Octubre a las 11:30 a.m.

Dalena fue una inspiración digna de elogio y admiración. Ella fue una de las primeras personas en permitirme, tenía 12 años en ese momento, cantar con ella cuando me mudé a Pensacola. Esto provocó una amistad entre ella y mi familia que apreciaré por siempre. La recordaré como una madre trabajadora, una maravillosa artista musical y un hermoso ser humano. DALENA PIEDAD CANDELL para mi como amiga ha sido una persona transparente que siempre me hablaba a mi y cada una de sus amistades sobre la palabra de DIOS. La conoci hace 18 años ella participó de muchos eventos Peruanos haciéndonos bailar y reir con su musica. Ella fue una mujer única e irrepetible, tenia un carisma único. Siempre ayudaba con su linda voz a recaudar fondos y cuando le pedimos ayuda ella nunca decia no. Fue una madre buena y luchadora, buena hermana preocupándose de su familia y buena esposa. Tuve la suerte de compartir con ella y su esposo en mi casa para celebrar la Indepencia de Peru. Me duele tanto su partida pero tengo que aceptarlo. QUE EL SEÑOR LA TENGA EN SU GLORIA. Remembering Dalena
The Gulf Coast is grieving the unexpected loss of a friend and talented musician. Cherished by many, Dalena was known for her lively spirit not only in her music but her personality. She had many friends in Northwest Florida and participated in many celebrations singing at weddings and other events.
Words have failed to describe the immense sadness and shock of losing Dalena. Our deepest condolences to her family and all who knew her. Her family has provided the following obituary.
Piedad Magdalena “Dalena” Candell-Kay, 56, of Mary Esther, FL passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband, son, daughter-in-law, as well as her pastor and friends on September 25, 2021.
Dalena was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador on April 6, 1965 to Jorge Candell and Rosa Fernandez. When she was 25, she moved to Los Angeles, California where her only son, Jonathan Castro, was born. She was a devoted mother taking pride in providing for and raising her son.
Dalena married Roger Kay on September 23, 2003; they were married for 18 years and built a life together in Mary Esther, Florida.
Dalena was blessed with an incredible voice, working as a professional singer for all of her life. She had a love for adventure and travel and was a true example of what God gives us, which is unconditional love. Dalena was a dedicated servant of God. She loved going to church, reading the Bible, learning, and playing music with others. She was actively involved in her church where the celebration of life will take place. At her church she was a pillar, mentor, and role model to many others. Dalena served her purpose in this world of touching all the lives that God put in her path with her charismatic presence, love, humor, and devotion to her Creator.
Dalena is survived by her husband, Roger Kay, her Son, Dr. Jonathan Castro and his wife, Dr. Jodi Gilles, her siblings Elena, Cecilia, Monica, Rosa, Luis Eduardo, Carlos and other family and friends.
A church service celebrating her life will be held in her honor at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday October 17th at Iglesia Cristiana Comunidad Familiar Tabernaculo de Adoracion located at 403 Green Acres Rd, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547.

Dalena was such an inspiration who is worthy of praise and admiration. She was one of the first people to allow me, a 12 year old at the time, to sing with her when I moved to Pensacola. DALENA PIEDAD CANDELL for me as a friend has been a transparent person, she always spoke to me and each of her friends the word of GOD. I met her 18 years ago and she participated in many Peruvian events, she kept us dancing and happy with her music. She was a unique charisma and irreplaceble woman. She helped with her beautiful voice to raise funds when we asked her for help she never said no. She was good hardworking mother, a good sister who took care of her family and a loving wife. I was lucky that she came to my house with her husband to celebrate the Peru’s Independence. Her departure hurts me so much but I have to accept it. MAY THE LORD HAVE HER IN HIS GLORY.
