Pensacola Habitat for Humanity y la Ciudad de Pensacola anuncian nueve nuevas viviendas asequibles
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola Habitat for Humanity y la Ciudad de Pensacola se han asociado para construir nueve nuevas viviendas asequibles en la calle E. Jackson de Pensacola, lo que brindará estabilidad habitacional permanente al antiguo Centro Malcolm Yonge.
Estas viviendas formarán parte del Fideicomiso de Tierras Comunitarias (CLT) del Noroeste de Florida, un modelo de propiedad de vivienda con participación accionaria que garantiza que las viviendas se mantengan asequibles a perpetuidad para compradores con ingresos calificados. El alcalde de Pensacola, D.C. Pensacola Habitat for Humanity and City of Pensacola Announce Nine New Affordable Homes
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Pensacola Habitat for Humanity and the City of Pensacola are partnering to build nine new, affordable homes on E. Jackson St. in Pensacola, bringing permanent housing stability to the site of the former Malcolm Yonge Center.
These homes will be part of the Northwest Florida Community Land Trust (CLT), a shared-equity homeownership model that ensures that the homes will remain affordable for income-qualified buyers in perpetuity. The City of Pensacola donated the land into the Land Trust, and Pensacola Habitat for Humanity will build nine homes for income-qualified buyers.
“We couldn’t be more appreciative of the City of Pensacola for trusting us with this opportunity to partner with them on such an important project,” said Pensacola Habitat for Humanity President/CEO Sam Young. “These future buyers will have access to homeownership opportunities in an area that would have otherwise been unaffordable for them. Thanks to the vision and leadership of our city officials, we’re able to come in and help ensure the legacy of the location can be carried on into beautiful new homes that will serve generations of new homeowners.”
Pensacola Mayor D.C. Reeves said while other collaborations have included three separate site houses, this project is special because it is the first-ever multi-family housing effort in city history to be built with the condition that it remain affordable for 100 years.
The Northwest Florida CLT is the only model in Northwest Florida that can permanently protect the public subsidy involved in these homes, making them permanently affordable for the workforce. By building these homes through the CLT, they won’t only be attainable for today’s buyer, but for any potential buyers in future years.
This is the latest in a long line of collaborations between the city and Pensacola Habitat for Humanity aimed at transforming the landscape of affordable housing. This project and beyond are proof that private and public partnerships can lead to long-term, lasting impact in the housing market.
