Nueva Taquería y Supermercado Mi Gente Abre en Destin
DESTIN, Fla. – Un nuevo local de Mi Gente Taquería y Supermercado abrió sus puertas al público el 27 de julio en Destin. El negocio ubicado en U.S. Highway 98 en el antiguo edificio Ole Time Country Buffet (733 Harbor Blvd, Destin, FL 32541) es el segundo local de Mi Gente operado por los copropietarios Herman Márquez y Christian Cubias.
La nueva instalación ofrecerá los mismos productos y servicios que su tienda hermana en Fort Walton Beach, que ha estado en funcionamiento durante 16 años. El sitio cuenta con una taquería, cantina, carnicería y productos importados de toda Latinoamérica. Mi Gente incluso ofrece preparar artículos comprados en su carnicería en su propia cocina.
Márquez y Cubias dicen que eligieron específicamente a Destin como hogar para su nueva tienda porque esperan llegar a una clientela más amplia.
“Queríamos acercarnos a los latinos en esta área y también a los turistas para que puedan aprender un poco más sobre nuestra comida y nuestra cultura y disfrutarla también”, dijo Cubias.
Cubias también dijo que esta nueva ubicación les permite expandir sus oportunidades de empleo a personas de diferentes países. Ya tienen empleados de Brasil, Perú, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica y El Salvador trabajando con ellos y les gustaría recibir más.
Su objetivo es celebrar el tapiz vibrante y variado de las culturas que conforman América Latina y compartirlas con la comunidad. En última instancia, es la conexión con la comunidad que tanto Cubias como Márquez valoran más.
“Queremos agradecer a toda la comunidad, no solo a Destin, sino a los que vienen de todas partes para nuestra gran inauguración y para comprar con nosotros. Estamos muy agradecidos,” dijo Cubias.
New Mi Gente Taqueria and Supermarket Opens in Destin
DESTIN, Fla. – A new Mi Gente Taqueria and Supermarket opened its doors to the public July 27 in Destin. The business located on U.S. Highway 98 in the old Ole Time Country Buffet building (733 Harbor Blvd, Destin, FL 32541) is the second Mi Gente operated by co-owners Herman Marquez and Christian Cubias.
The new installation will offer the same products and services as its sister store in Fort Walton Beach which has been in operation for 16 years. The site boasts an in-house taqueria, cantina, butcher shop and imported goods from all over Latin America. Mi Gente even offers to prepare items purchased from their butcher shop in their own kitchen.
Marquez and Cubias say they specifically chose Destin as home for their new store because they hope to reach a wider clientele.
“We wanted to draw closer to the Latinos in this area and to the tourists as well so they can learn a little more about our food and our culture and enjoy it too,” said Cubias.
Cubias also said this new location allows them to expand their employment opportunities to people from different countries. They already have employees from Brazil, Peru, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and El Salvador working with them and they would like to welcome more.
Their goal is to celebrate the vibrant, varied tapestry of cultures that make up Latin America and to share them with the community. Ultimately, it is the connection to the community both Cubias and Marquez most value.
“We want to thank the entire community, not just Destin, but those that come from all over for our grand opening and to shop with us. We are so grateful,” Cubias said.
