Nueva oficina de USCIS en Montgomery anunciada en ceremonia de ciudadanía en Pensacola

PENSACOLA, Fla.—Cerca de 140 candidatos tomaron el juramento de la lealtad durante una ceremonia especial de la naturalización en el National Naval Aviation Museum en la Naval Air Station Pensacola el viernes, 21 de julio. PENSACOLA, Fla. — About 140 candidates took the Oath of Allegiance during a special naturalization ceremony at the National Naval Aviation Museum at Naval Air Station Pensacola on Friday, July 21. Chief Judge M. Casey Rodgers administered the oath and welcomed the newest U.S. citizens in the state of Florida, who are from 49 different countries. Four of the candidates are military members.

Following the ceremony, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) also announced the opening of a new facility in Montgomery, Ala. USCIS officials report that the new facility, located at 3381 Atlanta Hwy., has approximately 14,000 square feet of office space to accommodate nearly 34 employees. Applicants for benefits such as naturalization and legal permanent residency previously had to go to the USCIS office in Jacksonville.

Unlike ICE and Border Protection, who deal with law enforcement and border entry, USCIS is the federal agency of Homeland Security that deals exclusively with individuals seeking to becoming citizens or obtaining lawful permanent residency (Green Card), as well as other immigration benefits.
