Entrenador de lucha libre de Fort Walton Beach fallece en Nashville

FORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. – Al igual que la mayoría de las personas se preparaban para volver a las rutinas diarias después de las vacaciones, la comunidad de Fort Walton Beach se entristeció por la noticia de que un querido miembro de su comunidad falleció.

Jorge Hernández fue golpeado por una furgoneta turística en el centro de Nashville en las últimas horas del 1 de enero. Tenía 26 años.

Hernández fue el entrenador asistente del equipo de lucha libre de Fort Walton Beach High School. Estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad se reunieron para recordarlo. Sus alumnos lo conocían como un hombre humilde, un mentor y siempre queriendo ayudar a los demás.

También fue un Staff Sargent del Air Force y un atleta. La lucha libre era un medio para afectar positivamente a los adolescentes.

“Jorge era un individuo sociable. Siempre riendo, sonriendo y tratando de animar a la gente alrededor del escuadrón. Era el tipo que todos conocían por su espíritu y vitalidad,” dijo el comandante Steven Cooper, comandante de la 23ª STS. “Esta es una pérdida trágica para la comunidad de Tácticas Especiales y nuestros pensamientos están con su familia, amigos y compañeros de equipo en este momento.”

U.S. airman in uniformFORT WALTON BEACH, Fla. — Just as most people were preparing to return to daily routines following the holiday break, the community of Fort Walton Beach was saddened by the news that a beloved member of their community had been killed.

Jorge Hernandez was struck by a tourist van in Downtown Nashville in the late hours of January 1. He was 26 years old.

Hernandez was the assistant coach of the Fort Walton Beach High School wrestling team. Students and community members gathered to remember him. His students knew him as a humble man, a mentor and always wanting to do help others.

He was also a Staff Sargant of the Air Force and an athlete. Wrestling was a means to positively effect teenagers.

“Jorge was a gregarious individual. Always laughing, smiling, and trying to cheer people up around the squadron. He was the guy who everyone knew because of his spirit and liveliness,” said Maj. Steven Cooper, commander of the 23rd STS. “This is a tragic loss to the Special Tactics community and our thoughts are with his family, friends, and teammates at this time.”
