Emerald Coast Writers inicia la búsqueda del primer joven poeta laureado de la Costa Esmeralda
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Emerald Coast Writers se complace en anunciar el lanzamiento del programa de Jóvenes Poetas Laureados de la Costa Esmeralda, invitando a jóvenes poetas apasionados de entre 13 y 19 años a postularse.
Esta oportunidad está abierta a adolescentes residentes en uno de los siguientes condados: Escambia (Florida y Alabama), Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Fort Walton, Bay, Baldwin o Mobile. Los solicitantes deben estar entusiasmados por leer e interpretar su poesía ante el público y contribuir a su comunidad.
El plazo de solicitud se abre a finales de marzo y cierra el 10 de abril. Los solicitantes deberán presentar cinco poemas y un currículum vitae que destaque su participación comunitaria y servicio cívico. Los finalistas podrán competir a nivel regional y podrían postularse para el próximo Premio Nacional a la Juventud Poeta Laureada.
ECW ofrecerá un taller virtual el 10 de marzo a las 19:30 h para responder preguntas y ayudar a crear portafolios de poesía y currículums. Asia Sampson, actual Poeta Laureado del Noroeste de Florida de ECW, asistirá para compartir su increíble poesía y ofrecer inspiración. Es necesario inscribirse; hay una grabación disponible para quienes se hayan inscrito y no puedan asistir.
La ceremonia de graduación se llevará a cabo el domingo 3 de mayo a las 17:00 h en el Museo de Arte de Pensacola.

Emerald Coast Writers kicks off search for first-ever Emerald Coast youth poet laureate
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Emerald Coast Writers is thrilled to announce the launch of the Emerald Coast Youth Poet Laureate program, inviting passionate young poets ages 13–19 to apply.
This opportunity is open to teens who reside in one of the following counties: Escambia (FL and AL), Santa Rosa, Okaloosa, Fort Walton, Bay, Baldwin, or Mobile. Applicants should be enthusiastic about reading and performing their poetry for an audience and giving back to their community.
Applications open in late March and close on April 10. Applicants will submit five poems and a resume highlighting community involvement and civic service. Finalists will be eligible to compete at the regional level and could potentially apply for the next National Youth Poet Laureate.
ECW will host a virtual workshop on March 10 at 7:30 PM to answer questions and help build poetry portfolios and resumes. ECW’s current Northwest Florida Poet Laureate, Asia Sampson, will attend to share his incredible poetry and offer inspiration. Registration is required, with a recording available for those registered and unable to attend.
The commencement ceremony will take place on Sunday, May 3, at 5:00 PM at the Pensacola Museum of Art.
