Evento de clínica médica gratuita en Crestview
CRESTVIEW, Fla. – Remote Area Medical (o RAM), una organización nacional sin fines de lucro que ofrece atención médica, dental y oftalmológica gratuita, llevará a cabo un evento de dos días en Crestview —el 30 y 31 de mayo—, ofreciendo servicios a cualquier persona que asista, sin hacer preguntas. El evento de servicios se celebrará en la Escuela Secundaria Crestview (Crestview High School), en un horario de 6:00 a. m. a 6:00 p. m. el sábado 30 de mayo, y de 6:00 a. m. a 1:00 p. m. el domingo 31 de mayo, sujeto a la participación de los proveedores de servicios.
RAM se financia mediante donantes y es operada por voluntarios. Ed Mitchell, representante de RAM, anunció el evento durante el foro público de una reciente reunión del Concejo Municipal de Crestview.
“Solo necesito más voluntarios: voluntarios médicos, doctores, enfermeros, dentistas y asistentes dentales. Todo lo demás va muy bien,” afirmó Mitchell. “También necesito algo más de dinero, pero ya saben que Dios proveerá eso. Será el evento más grande, el evento de salud más grande que haya tenido Crestview.”
Los servicios son gratuitos para el público, independientemente de su situación laboral, cobertura de seguro o nacionalidad, señaló el representante.
En los eventos clínicos de RAM, los pacientes reciben limpiezas dentales, extracciones, empastes y radiografías. Dependiendo de los compromisos de participación de los proveedores médicos, los pacientes también pueden recibir exámenes de la vista y anteojos el mismo día, así como exámenes físicos, exámenes de salud femenina y atención médica de rutina. La organización también trabaja para poner a los pacientes en contacto con médicos locales para recibir atención de seguimiento cuando sea necesario.

CRESTVIEW, Fla. – Remote Area Medica, or RAM, a national nonprofit that provides free medical, dental and vision care, will hold a two-day event in Crestview May 30 and 31 offering services to anyone who attends, no questions asked. The service event will be held at Crestview High School from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 and from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, depending on provider’s participation.
RAM is funded by donors and operated by volunteers. RAM representative, Ed Mitchell, announced the event during public forum at a recent Crestview City Council meeting.
“I just need more volunteers, medical volunteers, doctors, nurses, dental dentists, dental assistants. Everything else is going very well,” Mitchell said. “I need some more money too, but you know God will provide that. It will be the biggest event, biggest health event in Crestview.”
The services are free to the public, regardless of employment status, insurance coverage or nationality, the representative said.
Patients receive dental cleanings, extractions, fillings and X-rays at RAM clinic events. Depending on medical provider commitments to participation, patients can also receive eye exams and glasses the same day, as well as physical and women’s health exams and routine medical care. The organization also works to connect patients with local physicians for follow-up care when needed.
