UWF recibe el octavo premio nacional a la excelencia en diversidad
Pensacola, Fla. – La Universidad de West Florida recibió el Premio a la Excelencia en la Diversidad en la Educación Superior 2023, o HEED, de la revista INSIGHT into Diversity por sexto año consecutivo y octava vez en general.
UWF fomenta una cultura de inclusión y civismo fomentando un ambiente acogedor, inclusivo, equitativo y respetuoso para empleados, estudiantes, visitantes y socios de servicio. La Oficina de Cultura y Acceso al Campus de la Universidad sirve para crear experiencias y eventos que mejoren el sentido de pertenencia, el discurso civil tolerante y de mente abierta y la conciencia intercultural en toda la comunidad de la UWF.
La UWF alberga a más de 300 estudiantes internacionales de más de 85 países. En la primavera del 2023, la UWF y las organizaciones comunitarias se asociaron para el Global Block Party, un evento para resaltar y apreciar las diferentes culturas representadas en la Universidad. Los asistentes disfrutaron de comida gratis, un desfile de banderas y otras actividades de enfoque internacional.
El Premio HEED es el único honor nacional que reconoce a las instituciones de educación superior por su destacado compromiso a la diversidad, la equidad y la inclusión. UWF aparecerá junto con otros 108 ganadores del premio HEED en la edición de noviembre/diciembre de 2023 de la revista INSIGHT into Diversity.
UWF receives 8th national excellence in diversity award
Pensacola, Fla. –The University of West Florida has been awarded the 2023 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity, or HEED, Award from INSIGHT into Diversity magazine for the sixth consecutive year and eighth time overall.
UWF fosters a culture of inclusion and civility by nurturing a welcoming, inclusive, equitable and respectful environment for employees, students, visitors and service partners. The University’s Office of Campus Culture and Access serves to create experiences and events that enhance a sense of belonging, open-minded and tolerant civil discourse, and intercultural awareness across the UWF community.
UWF hosts more than 300 international students from more than 85 countries. In Spring 2023, UWF and community organizations partnered for the Global Block Party, an event to highlight and give appreciation to the different cultures represented at the University. Attendees enjoyed free food, a parade of flags and other internationally-focused activities.
The HEED Award is the only national honor to recognize institutions of higher education for their outstanding commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion. UWF will be featured alongside 108 other HEED Award recipients in the November/December 2023 issue of INSIGHT into Diversity magazine.
