¡Seguimos formentando energía en Alabama!
Estamos impulsando actividades que exigen igualdad de acceso a la atención médica y justicia en el lenguaje para las comunidades de inmigrantes en Alabama. La semana pasada llevamos a cabo una clínica de salud en Enterprise, AL, para brindar información y recursos a las comunidades marginadas de nuestro estado. Entre abril y mayo realizaremos talleres sobre la salud preventiva de la mujer en Irondale, Montgomery y Huntsville, AL. En estos talleres se compartirá información importante sobre cómo prevenir y detectar enfermedades en las mujeres a tiempo y tener una mejor salud.
Programa de Protección a Familias Inmigrantes
En marzo, nuestro programa Abrazando Nuestras Raíces recibió a dos grupos más de adultos mayores. Un total de 58 abuelos pudieron reencontrarse con sus hijos y nietos después de muchos años, regresando a México cargados de amor y muchos buenos recuerdos luego de pasar un mes entero con sus familias. Mientras construíamos liderazgo estuvimos en Dothan, AL capacitando a promotores y voluntarios que apoyarán la recepción del grupo de adultos mayores que llegarán este 2023.
Abogacía
Para fortalecer nuestro trabajo de abogacía, hemos asistido a reuniones con legisladores en Montgomery, AL, apoyando el Día Legislativo de Alabama Arise abogando por alimentos libres de impuestos, expandir Medicaid y terminar con las suspensiones de licencias de conducir basadas en deudas.
Desarrollo de Líderes
A medida de que construimos liderazgo compartimos espacios de aprendizaje con inmigrantes en Alabama, hemos asistido a diferentes capacitaciones y talleres como Educación Popular y Anti-negritud en la comunidad latina organizados por Unidos por una Economía Justa (UFE) y Equipo Maíz.

We are still building power in Alabama!
We are pushing activities that call for equal access to healthcare and language justice for immigrant communities in Alabama. Last week we held a health clinic in Enterprise, AL to provide information and resources to underserved communities in our state. Between April and May we will be holding workshops on women’s preventative health in Irondale, Montgomery, and Huntsville, AL. At these workshops important information will be shared on how to prevent and detect diseases in women early and have better health.
Family Protection Program
In March, our Abrazando Nuestras Raíces (Embracing Our Roots) program received two more groups of seniors. A total of 58 grandparents were able to reunite with their children and grandchildren after many years, and they returned to Mexico loaded with love and many good memories after spending a whole month with their families. As we built leadership we were in Dothan, AL training promoters and volunteers who will support the reception of the group of elderly arriving this 2023.

Advocacy
To strengthen our advocacy work, we have attended meetings with legislators in Montgomery, AL, supporting the Alabama Arise Legislative Day advocating to untaxed groceries, expand Medicaid and to end debt-based driver’s license suspensions.
Leadership Development
As we build leadership we share learning spaces with immigrants in Alabama, we have attended different trainings and workshops such as Popular Education, and Anti-blackness in the Latino community organized by United for a Fair Economy (UFE) and Equipo Maíz.
