PENSACOLA, Fla. – Para la mayoría, la danza es una forma de expresión, ejercicio y liberación de energía. Para Víctor Luna, también es una forma de apoyar a su comunidad.

Al crecer en Fort Walton Beach, Luna descubrió que tenía el don de enseñar danza que rápidamente se convirtió en una pasión. El baile se convirtió en una carrera como instructor de baile profesional. Él y su esposa Melanie son dueños y operan Life’s A Dance Studio.

PENSACOLA, Fla. – For most, dance is a form of expression, exercise and release of energy. For Victor Luna, it is also a way to support his community.

Victor and Melissa LunaGrowing up in Fort Walton Beach, Luna discovered he had a gift of teaching dance that quickly grew into a passion. Dancing became a career as a professional dance instructor. He and his wife Melanie own and operate Life’s A Dance Studio.

“I enjoy teaching people to have confidence to dance in front of others,” Luna said.

Luna has been teaching this confidence in Northwest Florida for 26 years now and has frequently been called upon to assist celebrities on Dancing with the Stars, a dance competition television series on ABC, for several years. Luna has worked with competitors for the show including Pricilla Presley, Nancy Grace, Kristi Yamaguchi, Kim Kardashian and Pam Anderson, to name a few.

Never forgetting his roots, however, Luna is always looking for ways to benefit his community and celebrate his heritage. He has participated in several dance-themed charity events, one of which is where he met his wife. Together they are creating their own charity events to benefit local non-profit organizations.

Organized by the Lunas and Gene and Amanda Hurd, owners of Hurd Real Estate & Co., this years star-studded event will benefit Junior Achievement of Northwest Florida, an organization that is dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills needed to plan for their futures.

“We picked Junior Achievement this year because we wanted to help kids working on literacy that needed extra help,” Luna said. “He spoke to several organizations and decided Junior achievement was where we needed to focus.”

Luna hoped to also create an all-Latin theme for this year’s event to celebrate his parents but said that all the enthusiastic participants were motivated by specific songs they wanted to dance to. Luna’s father was from South Texas and his mother was from Chihuahua, Mexico.

“It doesn’t matter what language you speak,” Luna said. “Body movement speaks internationally and makes dance friends are all over the world.”

The Life’s A Dance event features local celebrities, world professional championship dancers, Shannon and Shane Jensen; Instagram, TikTok social media superstars Miranda and James Derrick; and cast members of Dancing with the Stars including Daniella Karagach, Pasha Pashkov, and Tristan Mac Manus. The event will take place at the Pensacola Saenger Theater on Thursday, June 30 from 6:30 to 9 p.m.
