La suplantación de un oficial lleva al arresto
DESTIN, Fla. – La Oficina del Sheriff del Condado de Okaloosa dice que un incidente en la autopista 98 en Destin terminó con un arresto después de que un hombre de Milton activó luces azules intermitentes en su camioneta y mostró su billetera a la víctima.
El OCSO acusó a Thomas Dehart, de Milton, de 32 años, de un cargo de hacerse pasar por un oficial de la ley.
La víctima dice que Dehart condujo detrás de su vehículo en una camioneta negra Chevrolet Colorado 2018 con placas de Alabama. El informe dice que Dehart comenzó a seguirlo hacia el este en Emerald Coast Parkway alrededor de las 7:30 p.m. el 1 de agosto. Utilizando luces LED conectadas a sus faros delanteros, Dehart encendió las luces azules intermitentes como si indicara que el vehículo de la víctima se detuviera. El conductor dice que Dehart se detuvo junto a él, abrió su billetera y la mostró de una manera como si mostrara una placa de policía. Señaló su billetera y gritó declaraciones desconocidas a la víctima mientras las luces azules todavía estaban encendidas.
Los oficiales de la OCSO detuvieron a Dehart y la investigación posterior condujo a su arresto.
Officer impersonation leads to arrest
DESTIN, Fla. – The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office says a road rage incident on Highway 98 in Destin ended with a felony arrest after a Milton man activated flashing blue lights on his pickup truck and flashed his wallet at the victim.
The OCSO charged 32-year old Thomas Dehart of Milton with one count of impersonating a law enforcement officer.
The victim says Dehart drove behind his vehicle in a black 2018 Chevrolet Colorado pickup with Alabama plates. The report says Dehart then began tailgating him eastbound on Emerald Coast Parkway around 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 1. Using LED lights attached to his headlights, Dehart then turned on blue flashing lights as if signaling for the victim’s vehicle to stop. The driver says Dehart pulled up next to him, opened his wallet, and showed it in a manner as if showing a police badge. He pointed at his wallet and yelled unknown statements at the victim while the blue lights were still on.
OCSO deputies stopped Dehart and the subsequent investigation lead to his arrest.
