Eric Randall seleccionado como jefe de policía de Pensacola
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Eric Randall ha sido seleccionado por el alcalde Grover Robinson como el próximo Jefe de Policía del Departamento de Policía de Pensacola, luego de una búsqueda a nivel nacional, participación pública y revisión exhaustiva de parte del comité de selección y el alcalde.
Se espera que la selección se presente ante el Concejo Municipal para su afirmación en la reunión del Concejo Municipal este 13 de mayo. La fecha tentativa de inicio de Randall es el lunes 14 de junio.
“Tuvimos la suerte de tener varios candidatos destacados y altamente calificados interesados en convertirse en nuestro próximo Jefe de Policía, pero en última instancia, la experiencia y la visión de Eric Randall lo convirtieron en el mejor candidato para la ciudad de Pensacola”, dijo el alcalde Grover Robinson. “Esperamos contar con su liderazgo y experiencia en el Departamento de Policía de Pensacola, junto con su sincera dedicación a servir y conectarse con la comunidad de Pensacola”.
Randall, quien actualmente se desempeña como subjefe de policía en el Departamento de Policía de Newport News en Virginia, fue seleccionado de un grupo de tres finalistas después de dos rondas de entrevistas, una reunión individual con el alcalde Robinson y un foro público de candidatos.
Los otros dos finalistas fueron Booker Hodges, Comisionado Asistente de Aplicación de la Ley del Departamento de Seguridad Pública de Minnesota, y John Ortolano, Jefe de Policía en Hobbs, Nuevo México. Los tres finalistas fueron seleccionados de un grupo de ocho semifinalistas después de la primera ronda de entrevistas con el comité de selección.
“Estoy muy emocionado de ser seleccionado como Jefe de Policía del Departamento de Policía de Pensacola. No veo la hora de volver a Pensacola”, dijo Randall. “Es un gran honor volver a casa y servir a mi comunidad en esta capacidad”.
El Subdirector Randall comenzó su carrera en el Departamento de Policía de Newport News en 1998 como oficial auxiliar. En febrero del 2000, se convirtió en oficial de tiempo completo donde trabajó como oficial de patrulla, oficial de bicicletas, oficial de entrenamiento de campo, detective de narcóticos y brechero de explosivos en la unidad de operaciones tácticas del departamento.
En 2006, el Subdirector Randall fue ascendido a Sargento, donde se desempeñó como supervisor de patrulla y de la División de Crimen Organizado. Como sargento de la División de Crimen Organizado, dirigió investigaciones relacionadas con la distribución ilegal de narcóticos y supervisó la Fuerza de Tarea Península Calles Seguras del FBI.
En 2010, el subdirector Randall fue ascendido a teniente. Como teniente, se desempeñó en una variedad de asignaciones que incluyen el comandante interino del precinto, el comandante interino de investigaciones criminales y el comandante de la unidad de operaciones tácticas (SWAT).
El 16 de noviembre de 2014, fue ascendido a Capitán y se desempeñó como Comandante del Precinto Sur.
El 14 de agosto de 2017, fue ascendido a Subjefe de Policía y se desempeña como Comandante de la Oficina de Investigaciones.
El Subdirector Randall obtuvo una maestría y una licenciatura en Justicia Penal de la Universidad de Saint Leo. Durante su carrera en la aplicación de la ley, el Subdirector Randall ha recibido numerosos premios y elogios, incluidos dos premios por haber salvado vidas.
Eric Randall selected as Pensacola Police Chief
PENSACOLA, Fla. – Eric Randall has been selected by Mayor Grover Robinson as the next Chief of Police for the Pensacola Police Department, after a nationwide search, public participation and thorough review by the selection committee and mayor.
The selection is expected to go before City Council for affirmation at the May 13 City Council meeting. Randall’s tentative start date is Monday, June 14.
“We were fortunate to have multiple highly qualified, standout candidates interested in becoming our next Chief of Police, but ultimately, Eric Randall’s experience and vision made him the best fit for the City of Pensacola,” Mayor Grover Robinson said. “We are looking forward to having his leadership and expertise at the Pensacola Police Department, along with his sincere dedication to serving and connecting with the Pensacola community.”
Randall, who currently serves as the Assistant Chief of Police at Newport News Police Department in Virginia, was selected from a group of three finalists after two rounds of interviews, a one-on-one meeting with Mayor Robinson and a public candidate forum.
The two other finalists were Booker Hodges, Assistant Commissioner of Law Enforcement for the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, and John Ortolano, Chief of Police in Hobbs, New Mexico. The three finalists were selected from a pool of eight semifinalists after the first round of interviews with the selection committee.
“I am so excited to be selected as the Chief of Police for the Pensacola Police Department. I cannot wait to get back to Pensacola,” Randall said. “It is such an honor to get to come home and serve my community at this capacity.”
Assistant Chief Randall began his career with Newport News Police Department in 1998 as an auxiliary officer. In February 2000, he became a full-time officer where he worked as a patrol officer, bike officer, field training officer, narcotics detective, and explosive breacher on the department’s tactical operations unit.
In 2006, Assistant Chief Randall was promoted to Sergeant where he served as a supervisor in patrol and the Organized Crime Division. As a sergeant in Organized Crime Division, he led investigations related to the illegal distribution of narcotics and supervised the FBI’s Peninsula Safe Streets Task Force.
In 2010, Assistant Chief Randall was promoted to Lieutenant. As a Lieutenant, he served in a variety of assignments to include Acting Precinct Commander, Acting Criminal Investigations Commander, and Tactical Operations Unit Commander (SWAT).
On November 16, 2014, he was promoted to Captain and served as the South Precinct Commander.
On August 14, 2017, he was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police and serves as the Investigations Bureau Commander.
Assistant Chief Randall earned both a MS and BA in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University. During his law enforcement career, Assistant Chief Randall has received numerous awards and commendations including two lifesaving awards.
