Doble ahogamiento en Destin
DESTIN, Fla. – Los esposos que se ahogaron trágicamente en el Golfo cerca de un resort de Destin el martes eran residentes de Buford, Georgia, de 57 y 54 años respectivamente.
Testigos afirman que la pareja y su hijo fueron vistos forcejeando en el Golfo a unas 75 a 100 yardas de la costa de la carretera estadounidense 98 1040. Un transeúnte tomó prestada una tabla de boogie y salió a rescatarlos. Logró llevar al hijo de 26 años a la orilla, y sus acciones salvaron la vida del joven.
Personal de seguridad de la playa sacó a la madre del agua mientras Seguridad de la Playa de Destin y una Unidad Marina de OCSO localizaban al padre. Se realizaron intensas y extensas medidas de salvamento en ambos, pero fueron infructuosas.
Banderas amarillas ondeaban en la playa en ese momento, indicando oleaje y/o corrientes moderadas.
Double Drowning in Destin
DESTIN, Fla. – The husband and wife who tragically drowned in the Gulf near a Destin resort Tuesday were residents of Buford Georgia, ages 57 and 54 respectively.
Witnesses say the couple and their son were spotted struggling in the Gulf about 75 to 100 yards offshore of 1040 U.S. Highway 98. A bystander borrowed a boogie board and went out to try to rescue them. He was able to get the 26-year-old son to shore, and his actions saved the young man’s life.
Beach safety personnel pulled the mother out of the water while Destin Beach Safety and an OCSO Marine Unit located the father. Intense and extensive lifesaving measures were performed on both but were unsuccessful.
Yellow flags were flying on the beach at the time, indicating moderate surf and/or currents.
