26 familias mexicanas se reencuentran en Orlando tras décadas de separación
ORLANDO, Fla. – Gracias al programa de reunificación familiar “Los sueños cruzan fronteras,” 26 familias mexicanas pudieron reencontrarse en un emotivo evento organizado en el Consulado de México en Orlando. Madres, padres, hijas, hijos, abuelos y abuelas volvieron a abrazarse tras décadas de espera, en un acto cargado de emoción, lágrimas y amor.
Cada una de estas familias esperó entre 20 y 30 años para reencontrarse. Durante este tiempo, las llamadas, cartas y recuerdos fueron su único consuelo. Hoy, por fin, pudieron mirarse a los ojos, abrazarse y recuperar el tiempo perdido.
Cumpliendo la instrucción de la Presidenta Claudia Sheinbaum de acercarse y atender los anhelos de la comunidad mexicana migrante, el Cónsul Juan Sabines les dio la bienvenida, acompañado por Leonardo Rodríguez, de la Federación Hidalguense, y Juan Baxcajay, de la VAIPOIME, quienes hicieron posible este emotivo encuentro. Familiares y medios de comunicación fueron testigos de que no hay frontera capaz de separar a una familia que nunca dejó de esperar.
El evento no solo representó un reencuentro físico; fue la prueba de que el amor familiar sobrevive al tiempo y la distancia. En un ambiente de fiesta y emoción, entre música de mariachi, comida tradicional, pancartas de bienvenida, flores y globos, familia tras familia se acercó a su ser querido con el que tanto habían soñado volver a verse.
Cada una de las 26 historias lleva consigo años de nostalgia, sacrificio y esperanza. Nietos conocieron a sus abuelos por primera vez, las familias se miraron de nuevo a los ojos, y madres y padres sintieron en su pecho el calor de un hijo que nunca dejaron de extrañar.
“Este es el verdadero rostro de la migración: el del amor, el sacrificio y la lucha. No una amenaza. Es urgente que las autoridades de Florida y del mundo reconozcan la humanidad detrás de cada migrante. La reunificación familiar no solo es un derecho, es un acto de justicia y humanismo,” concluyó el Cónsul Juan Sabines.
26 Mexican Families Reunite in Orlando After Decades of Separation
ORLANDO, Fla. – Thanks to the “Dreams Cross Borders” family reunification program, 26 Mexican families were reunited in a moving event held at the Mexican Consulate in Orlando. Mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, and grandfathers embraced each other again after decades of waiting, in an act filled with emotion, tears and love.
Each of these families waited between 20 and 30 years to be reunited. During this time, calls, letters, and memories were their only consolation. Today, they were finally able to look into each other’s eyes, hug and make up for lost time.
Following President Claudia Sheinbaum’s instructions to reach out and address the hopes of the Mexican migrant community, Consul Juan Sabines welcomed them, accompanied by Leonardo Rodríguez of the Hidalgo Federation and Juan Baxcajay of VAIPOIME, who made this emotional encounter possible. Family members and the media witnessed that no border can separate a family that never stopped hoping.
The event not only represented a physical reunion; it was proof that family love survives time and distance. In an atmosphere of celebration and excitement, amid mariachi music, traditional food, welcome banners, flowers and balloons, family after family gathered together with their loved ones they had long dreamed of reuniting with.
Each of the 26 stories carries with it years of nostalgia, sacrifice, and hope. Grandchildren met their grandparents for the first time, families looked into each other’s eyes again, and mothers and fathers felt the warmth of a child they had never stopped missing in their hearts.
“This is the true face of migration; that of love, sacrifice and struggle. Not a threat. It is urgent that authorities in Florida and around the world recognize the humanity behind every migrant. Family reunification is not only a right, it is an act of justice and humanism,” concluded Consul Juan Sabines.
