SPANISH FORT, Ala.—When one thinks of college football recruiting, women’s soccer rarely comes to mind, but that is exactly what Huntingdon College came to Spanish Fort for. Dawn Trevino, a senior at Spanish Fort High School signed a commitment to play for the Montgomery college, and celebrated the moment with her family.

“I want her to stay feisty and fierce, yet humble,” said mom, Elena Macias-Trevino.

Fierce may be the perfect description for this young athletic starlet. She has not only mastered the soccer field but has secured sufficient academic scholarships to see her though her college career and plans to study international business.

Aside from soccer, Huntingdon College supports several athletic teams. Trevino will undoubtedly keep the Hawks’ soccer team in the headlines. She has been playing varsity soccer since her freshman year and has made Battle of the Bay, North-South All-Star team and team captain.

“I am proud of how far I have come, and I hope for bigger and better things,” Dawn said. “With the amount of work and passion I’ve put into this game, it’s made me learn a lot about life and given me opportunities I could’ve never dreamed of.”

Dawn will begin classes at Huntingdon this fall.
